How to reach Rohru

By road - There is a good road connectivity to Rohroo from other cities of Himachal Pradesh. From Shimla you can take the direct bus to Rohru.

By Rail -Nearest railway station to Rohru is at Shimla at a distance of 126 km. Then there is a major railhead at Kalka at a distance of 165 km. From both of these railway stations you can hire a taxi to reach Rohru.

By Air - Nearest airport is at Shimla. Then there is an airport at Bhuntar, Kullu at a distance of 100 km

About Rohru

Rohru is a prominent weekend retreat that is famous for angling and trout fishing. The river bank is ideal for picnic, afternoon stroll and to unwind in summer heat. The dense forest range in Rohru makes it ideal for jungle trekking. The temperature is around 10-15 degree Celsius making it pleasant for tourists throughout the year. A hatchery is situated in Dhamwari that is around 25 km from Rohru town. It is a major place of tourist interest. Some of the interesting peaks with snowline are Chanshil Top and Surachil Top. Khara Pathar is a small hill station where you can explore the vegetation, orchards and the natural beauty of the place. The areas around Khara Pathar are known for its rich apple production and the winter temperatures in higher altitudes can be around 5 degree Celsius. From Rohru, you can also drive to the beautiful valley of Hatkoti, home to ancient temples.

Places to see in Rohru

Rohru is also well known for its apple orchards and considered one of the prominent places of apple export in the state. It has recorded maximum high quality production.
Apple orchards - Rohru is popular among tourists as an apple producing valley just like Jubbal, Kothkhai and Hatkoti. At least half the apples in the state are produced in these areas. Apples from here sold to juice manufacturers and exported. Apple production industry in Rohru is a major source of income for the locals here.
Pabbar River - This river flowing pass the Rohru town is heaven for anglers. In the upstream, trout fishing is popular. This river in Seema and Dhamari offers rafting opportunities as well.
Pabbar Valley - This valley is popular for its strikingly beautiful landscape, opportunities for trekking and jeep safari. The Kuper Valley trek starts from here.
Shikhru Devta Temple - Situated in the town of Rohru, this Hindu shrine is a revered site for the villagers. The annual fair held in April is of interest to tourists and the cultural festival includes folk dance and music.

Excursion from Rohru

Chiragaon - The village of Chiragaon lies around 15 km away from Rohru town and is another destination for angling and picnic.
Hatkoti - Hatkoti is an elevated village perched above 1,100 meters above sea level. It offers scenic views and is one of the apple growing areas in the state. It is around 104 km drive from Shimla and has several shrines dedicated to Goddess Hateshwari. Hatkoti Temples are well known for their pahari architecture.
