At a height of 2313 meters, Sarahan is a holy village in Himachal Pradesh that is well known for the Bhimakali Temple. Sarahan is easily accessible from Shimla and is a drive of 180 km, taking up to 6 hours to reach. Its easy accessibility from Shimla and the trek route to Kinnaur make this town a sought-after destination. Most travelers access this place via Kalka as well. From Delhi, you can travel by roadways covering around 565 km. River Sutlej also flows past this village, offering scenic views and a pleasant weather. After a hectic trek of Kinnaur and Kinner Kailash, Sarahan can be the ideal place to rest and unwind. The unparalleled beauty of the landscape and the stunning backdrop of the Srikhand Mahadev Peak make Sarahan a memorable place. This peak is snow capped during winters and summer is the trekking season.

Sarahan also has an interesting history. The rulers of Bushahr are believed to have settled in Kinnaur and Sarahan became their summer capital. The deodar and pine forests, gushing streams and wildflower fields are the present attractions of this place. The sparse population also makes it a tranquil and secluded village.

Bhimakali Temple - It is among the 51 shakthi peethas in the country and this shrine dominates the village. The excellent stone carvings of the temple are praiseworthy. The first two complexes of the temple were constructed in the 12th century and another was added in 1920. They are dedicated to Lord Raghunathji, Patal Bhairva Ji and Narsinghji. It is also believed that human sacrifices were performed in the Narsinghji complex until the 18th century, though animal sacrifice continues on the eve of Dussehra.

Devi Bhimakali is the principal deity and has a separate shrine. According to legends, the ear of Parvati or Sati fell here during the Shiva Tandav.
There is a strict entry regulation at this temple and male devotees must wear a cap or cover their heads.
Sarahan Bird Park - Minutes away from the temple is a bird's park or breeding center for pheasants.

Bhaba Valley - This green valley is around 50 km drive from Sarahan village and is a well-known picnic spot. The banks of a lake here are ideal for birdwatching. The trek route that starts at Wangtu passes via Pin Valley and then to Spiti region.
