Tour to ChampawatChampawat is a beautiful town in Champawat district in the state of Uttaranchal in northern India. Located about 76 km from Pithoragarh headquarters, Champawat is a well-known tourist place, famous for its natural beauty and historical temples. A Tour to Champawat would essentially feature exploring the breathtaking landscapes and terraced fields dotting the land besides the ancient temples and forts. Nestled at about 1615 meters above sea level, Champawat was the erstwhile capital of the rulers of Chand dynasty. The ruins of the ancient fort of the Chand rulers are one of the prime attractions on tour to Champawat. This fort now houses the headquarters of the Tehsil office at Champawat.


Your tour to Champawat will introduce you to the Baleshwar and Rataneshwar temples, noted for their marvelous architecture. Built by the Chand rulers in 16th century, Baleshwar Temple exhibits excellent works of stone carvings. The Nagnath temple at Champawat is also an excellent specimen of ancient architecture.
