To reach Pauri by air, the nearest airport of Jollygrant can be used. If you take the route of Rishikesh – Srinagar, it is 155 kms away, where as it lies 131 kms away, via the route of Rishikesh – Devprayag. Tourists traveling via rail, may use the railhead at Kotdwar (108 kms away) or that of Rishikesh (117 kms away). Pauri is also well connected to Dehradun, Hardwar, Rishikesh, Kotdwar and other cities of the area.


Pauri is an excellent base in Uttaranchal from where you can visit the nearby tourist destinations. Khirsu, situated 19 kms from Pauri, attracts a lot of tourists by offering a panoramic sight of the Central Himalayas. The ancient shrine of Ghandiyal Devta located nearby is also a good place to visit.

People interested in having a picnic amongst the natural beauty of the place should head straight to Adwani. Situated at a distance of 17 kms from Pauri, this place having thick forests in the surrounding, is an admirable picnic spot.

Tara Kund, located in the Chariserh development region, is another place with scenic grandeur. Positioned 2,200 m above the sea level, this place has an old temple and a small lake. People come to this temple in order to celebrate the Teej Festival with a lot of enthusiasm. The temple also draws devotees on other days, who come to worship the deity and acquire divine blessings.

Dhudatoli (often called Doodhatoli), at a height of 3100 m, is another place abundant in natural beauty. From this place you will get a breath taking bird's eye view of the distant Himalayan ranges, as well as the neighborhood. The memorial erected as a mark of respect to the indomitable spirit of freedom fighter Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali, is another place which should figure in your itinerary. Located on River Malini’s bank, 14 kms away from Kotdwar, Kanva Rishi Ashram is a place which has both archaeological and historical importance. It is a popular myth that Sage Vishwamitra meditated at this location. Binsar, 114 kms from Pauri, also attracts many tourists, thanks, mainly to its celebrated temple of Lord Shiva.
