The main temple at Gangotri stands on the right bank of the Bhagirathi and was constructed by a Gorkha Commander, Amar Singh Thapa during the 18th century.

• Yamunotri
  Famous for its thermal springs and scenic locales, Yamunotri is an important Char Dham Destination because of the temple dedicated to Goddess Yamuna.
