The shrine which is located at an altitude of around 3584 mts at the head of the River Mandakini is visited by countless devotees all around the year and especially during the festivities of Maha Shivaratri.
- Gangotri
Dedicated to Goddess Ganga, Goddess of the River Ganges, which is considered to be the lifeline of Hinduism as well as the Indian subcontinent, Gangotri is another notable Char Dham Destination. The main temple at Gangotri stands on the right bank of the Bhagirathi and was constructed by a Gorkha Commander, Amar Singh Thapa during the 18th century.
- Yamunotri
Famous for its thermal springs and scenic locales, Yamunotri is an important Char Dham Destination because of the temple dedicated to Goddess Yamuna.
