Badrinath Temple in Badrinath

Introduction to Badrinath Temple in Badrinath:
Badrinath Temple in BadrinathBadrinath temple is one of the main tourist attractions in Uttaranchal. The temple is surrounded by two ranges named ‘Nar’ and ‘Narayan’. The holy temple is surrounded by the mountain ranges and the nearest peak is the called ‘Neelkantha’ peak. This temple is regarded as ‘the abode of Lord Vishnu’. The name Badrinath is derived from the local word ‘badri’ which means berries. The temple is positioned at a height of 3,133 meters and the route is pretty difficult but it is the faith that makes the pilgrims travel across these hilly roads and reach the temple.

The temple stands on the banks of river Alakananda. The thermal spring near the temple is one of the main attractions and it is here that the tourists freshen up, before going for the puja.

Behind this historic temple there lies legendary tales, which make the place more attractive for both domestic as well as international tourists. It is believed that the holy river Ganga starts her journey on the earth from this place. So the place is regarded as a holy place for the Hindus, where legends and belief blend to create a perfect religious destination.

The main temple of Badrinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya established it in 8th century, but after few years the structure of the temple was renovated by the kings of Garhwal. There are 15 idols of lord Vishnu, Parvati, Garuda, Lord Shiva and others, all made of black stone.

The best time to visit this holy shrine is the summer, as during winters the entire area remains snow covered and thus becomes inaccessible. The most important part of the temple is the legend that is linked to it and its location, which inspire devotees to overcome all hurdles and attain divine solace. The hilly roads are very difficult, and tourists can take the help of local tourist guides to reach the temple and enjoy the journey.
