Legendary Association of Govind National Park in Uttaranchal:
It is said that the legendary character Hanuman, who traveled across the Palk Strait, came flying over Indian landmass until he finally reached Uttaranchal. From here he took the medicine for Sri Laxmana, brother of Sri Rama, who was affected by snake’s poison. The medicinal herbs of Uttaranchal thus possess life endowing capacities and are a new lease of life to the people.
Moreover some species such as Snow Leopard, residing in the zenith of the Mountains, which are endangered by constant interference from poachers threatened the ecological balance and therefore needed attention. Government declared this zone as National Park after scrutinizing this condition.
