Weekend Getaways from Rajasthan within 500 km

On the banks of River Chambal, Kota is a beautiful city and the agricultural hub of Rajasthan. It is also home to several small industries, textiles and processing plants. What to see in Bhainsrorgarh The 2nd century built fort here is the major attraction. Situated between the Chambal and Bamani rivers, this fort served as the seat of Mewar. The fort premises consist of temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Ganesha and Devi Bhim Chauri, a palace and 5 water tanks. It presently operates as a 250 year old heritage hotel.

A highly commercialized city known for its diamond merchandise, Surat is a prominent financial center of Gujarat. Though an urbanized city, there are still glimpses of history and culture for tourists to enjoy. The Surat Castle is an old fort on the banks of River Tapti. The Armenian and Dutch cemeteries on the Karatgam Road are worth a visit.
