One of the best known zoological parks in India, the Nehru Zoological Park Hyderabad boasts of housing over 1500 species of animals and birds. The Nehru Zoological Park comprises a Natural History Museum, a Lion Safari Park and a children’s train. The nocturnal zoo, a part of the Nehru Zoological Park is unique to this park in Hyderabad. Animals that are not visible during the day can be seen here.

One of Asia’s largest zoological parks, the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad offers a natural habitat to the animals in the park. An ideal leisure spot, the zoological park has the Mir Alam Tank in the premise. The tank is a major attraction for some of the rare species of birds like pelicans, peacock, dove, love birds, parakeets, pied horn bills, grey horn bills and manias, finches and buntings.

Some of the popular animals found in the Nehru Zoological Park are rhinoceros, wild oxen, tiger, lion, chimpanzee, panther and panther. The avian population includes white peacock and mynah. Some of the endangered species found in the park are chinkara, chausingha, American bison, sambar, black buck, Russell viper and brow antler deer. Some of the reptiles of the park are monitor lizard, star tortoise, chameleons, hooded Indian cobra, tree snakes and Giant Rock Pythons. The Nehru Zoological Park is open between 8.30 am and 5 pm on all days except Monday. The entry fee to the park is very nominal.
