Gopalpur Beach is situated in the Ganjam district of Orrisa. It is located 186 km from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Orrisa.

Gopalpur Beach is well connected by an efficient transport network. The nearest airport is Bhubaneswar. You can direct flights to Bhubaneswar from Delhi or Kolkata and then take a cab to reach Gopalpur. If you want to reach Gopalpur by train, it is best to take Howrah-Chennai line of Southeastern Railway and get down at Berhampur. Gopalpur Beach is also connected by metal roads from Berhampur (16-km), Barkul (75-km), Bhubaneshwar (180-km), and Puri (242-km). Bikers or travelers on car can strat from any of the points. Auto-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws are the common modes of transport.

Gopalpur Beach has a good number of tourist attractions nearby. Taptapani, situated 67 km from Gopalpur, is well known for its hot water sulphur spring. You can also visit the local villages to study the lifestyle, tradition, and culture of Kutia Kondh, Bonda and the Mali tribes. Located at 15 km away from Gopalpur, Dhavaleswar is known for the famous temple of Lord Shiva. Other local spots include Mahuri Kalua, Pati-Sonapur, the temple of twin goddess Tara and Tarini in Taratarini, and rock inscriptions at Jaugada.

You can also go for a trip to the Chilka Lake, situated 45 km away. Covering an area of around 1,100 sq. km., Chilka Lake is the largest salt water lake in India.
