The Amber Fort, also known as the Amer Fort ranks in the popular tourist attractions in Jaipur. This magnificent fort is a great relic of the medieval Rajput style of construction. Initially, the fort was started by Raja Man Singh I of the Kachhwaja dynasty in the year 1592 and was completed by Raja Jai Singh at a later date. The final construction was done by Sawai Jai Singh. It took around two centuries for the whole Amber Fort to be built.
The Amber Fort, Jaipur was built with white marble and red sandstone which makes it a spectacular sight. The attraction is increased by the Maotha Lake, which is located in the front of the fort. The fort's mirrors reflect the waters of the lake and create a great sight. Despite the outer appearance being rough and craggy, the interior of the fort presents a completely dissimilar look with plenty of grand and intricate carvings. The carvings are a combination of both Rajput and Muslim schools of art. The whole fort is home to wide range of exquisite paintings of various hunting and adventure scenes of the Rajput rulers. There are also paintings of the city.
Some of the important buildings in the Amber Palace are Shila Devi Temple, Jai Mandir, Diwan-E-Khas, Diwan-I-Aam, Kali Temple and Ganesh Pol. From the top of the fort, tourists can have a panoramic view of the entire city of Jaipur.
The Amber Fort is easily accessible. It only takes an hour to come to the fort from the main city center of Jaipur. Being a well known tourist spot, Jaipur is well connected with various parts of the country. There is also an international airport in the city which operates domestic and international flights.
