For the Sikhs, Anandpur Sahib is one of the most important pilgrimage and religious sites. This ancient Gurudwara stood the test of time and is of great religious importance. It witnessed the birth of the Khalsa about 300 years back. Since then, it has become a major venue for the religious gathering of the Sikhs. Anandpur Sahib India is also known as the holy City of Bliss and is one of the major sacred sites for the Sikhs. Hola Mohalla is a major occasion that brings this peaceful site to life. This festival, which is held in the month of March, is continuing since the time of the 10th Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh. On this occasion of this festival people show their martial skill and it is held during Holi. More than 100,000 devotees gather at Anandpur Sahib to celebrate this festival together. Involving color and fun, this festival enlivens the spirits of the devotees coming to this place from all over the world. The fair continues for three days and the Gurudwaras are beautifully decorated and illuminated brightly to encourage festive spirit among the people.
The whole of Anandpur Sahib thrives with life during this fair. Community conferences are also arranged at this time of the festive season. Huge processions are taken out by the Nihangs, who gather at this fair site from all over the world. People are clad in their traditional dress and carry their weapons.
At Anandpur Sahib, you can find five major forts, which were built by 10th Sikh Guru Guru Gobind Singh. These forts include Kila Anandgarh Sahib, Kila Holgarh Sahib, Kila Lohgarh Sahib, Kila Fatehgarh Sahib and Kila Taragarh Sahib. From Anandpur Sahib, you can visit other nearby sacred sites like Guru-Ka-Lahore, Gurudwara Mata Jito Ji and Naina Devi Mandir.
