Shirdi Travel Guide

A childless Muslim, Faqir, and his wife adopted a Hindu Brahman-born infant left in the woods abandoned. Although it is a matter of study if he is a Hindu or Muslim, his teaching elements were a cluster of Hinduism and Islam. That is why both religious people and ordinary people revered him. The birth year and birthplace of Sai Baba are still unknown, but most accounts mention that he died in Shirdi on October 15, 1918. It is believed Sai Baba arrived in Shirdi in 1858 and remained there until his death.

Since then, when he was alive, Sai Baba has been worshiped by all devotees irrespective of ethnicity and religion. He proposed the famed saying, “Sabka Maalik Ek” (One God for all). Sai Baba is considered the most revered saint in India, and residents of Shirdi town believe he is the greatest saint ever known to humanity, as do his followers worldwide. The Spiritual Guru had spent almost 50 years of his life in Shirdi town and condemned distinctions based on caste and religion.
