2. Flower Show, Mysore

The Flower Show remains the show stopper of the Winter Festival organized every year in Mysore. Spreading floral beauty and fragrance across the Mysore Palace, the show draws the attention of winter tourists from far and wide. Almost 3.5 to 4 lakh flowers are used to decorate some fascinating structures on the extensive Palace grounds. The Horticulture Department arranges approximately 10,000 flowerpots with more than 30 varieties of flowers. The variety of flowers includes roses, orchids, and chrysanthemum among others. For display, thousands of varieties of dahlia, marigold, and bonsai are kept.

Flower imitations created to leave the visitors in awe are the old wooden Mysore Palace (burnt in a fire), a model of ISRO’s ‘Satellite launch’ vehicle, and models to respect the Indian Army, Air Force, and Indian Navy. Other blossom replicas include Siddaganga seer Shivakumara Swami’s portrait, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar sitting on the throne, and Swami Vivekananda.
