Fairs and Festivals in Gujarat

Termed as the Land of festivals and fairs, Gujarat is a colorful and a vibrant state with a rich culture and heritage. Gujarat is known for its various festivals and about 3500 small and big fairs and festivals are celebrated here every year. With festivals celebrated all-round the year Gujarat is visited by large number of tourists every year. 

Starting with festivals like Makar Sankranti and Kite festival in the month of January, Gujarat is a home to number of festivals celebrated all through the year.

Fairs and festivals in Gujarat are governed by the solar and lunar calendars of old world astrology and usually revolve around an occasion like harvest season, religious event etc. 

Kite festival, Modhera dance festival, Kutch Utsav, Bhavnath festival Mahashvratri, Holi festival, Chitra- Vichitra fair etc. are some of the fairs and festivals celebrated in Gujarat.

Celebrating the movement of the sun into the northern hemisphere, Kite festival of Gujarat is an important festival and attracts lot of kite lovers from across the world. Kutch Utsav is another important festival celebrated in the Kutch region of Gujarat. Besides, Holi the festival of colors, is another major festival of Gujarat.
