How is Gangaur Festival Celebrated?

Gangaur Festival is a very colorful affair. It lasts for 18 days and is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm. During the festival, the idols of Gauri are adorned beautifully. Women also prepare themselves for the festival by applying henna and mehndi on their feet and palm. This is an integral part of Indian tradition.

The festival is also marked by women singing songs. They also go from door to door while carrying earthen pots. This earthen pot has illuminated lamps called ghudlias. These are carried to collect cash, sweets, ghee, oil, and jaggery. This ritual continues till the last day of the event. On the event's last day, girls break these pots and take the debris into a well or a tank.

On visiting the festival, you can see the faith and religious beliefs. The festival also includes a procession with town bands and horses to add a lot of colors. This procession further makes the festival attractive as more and more people get to see the bright side of Rajasthan.
