Sariska Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan was declared a sanctuary in 1955 and is one of the most picturesque tiger reserves of Rajasthan. Famous for being the hunting preserve of the Maharaja of Alwar in the old days, Sariska Sanctuary was merged into the Project Tiger in the year 1979.
