History of Kuthiramalika:

In Kuthiramalika there is an exquisite Palace constructed by the Maharaja of the place named Swathi Thirunal Balarama Varma. He was the king of Travancor and was one of the communal crusaders of the time. He displayed a rare specimen of craftsmanship in the architecture of the palace. There are various priceless articles in this palace and the most exclusive is the collection of the items that originally belonged to the Royal Family.

Description of Kuthiramalika:

The meaning of the term Kuthiramalika is Horse Bungalow. It comes from the ancient carvings of the temple that resembles the shape of a horse. There are on display the ornaments, personal belongings and also other rare and exquisite articles. The architecture of the palace is amazing and attracts the attention of the tourists and the pilgrims alike. It has numerous elements on display that originally belongs to the regal architectural family.

The delightful palace was constructed at the time of ascension of the king named Swathi Thirunal. He was a trained musician in the Indian and the Classical music styles and was the greatest contributor to the Hindustani and the Carnatic style of Music. The palace is open on all days except Mondays.
