Ashok Kumar and his 2 sons namely Kiran and Chetan ventured out on a tour to Malaysia and Singapore and came to the conclusion of establishing a Golf Resort in Bangalore. The efforts materialized when Eagleton Golf Resort was opened near Bidadi. This place is around 35 km from Bangalore. In 1999, the Eagleton Golf Resort got ready to be used. This resort now serves as an ideal base for the Eagleton Open Amateur tourney.

It was Anirban Lahiri who won the tournament of Eagleton Open Amateur in India on the field of the Eagleton Golf Resort. His clear-cut 13 strokes won him the tournament against Raj Randhawa who also had given an impressive performance with striking 6 over 78 and ended up on the second position. Besides, Simarjeet Singh also, the winner of 3 consecutive amateur titles held in Sri Lanka, participated in the Eagleton Open Amateur tournament. The other players in the Eagleton Open Amateur were Manav Das, Abhishek Jha and Jasjeet Singh.

The Tournament for the Eagleton Open Amateur in India is sponsored by LG group. LG is a household name in electronics, mobile phones, and petrochemical products.
