Day 1 Bangalore

1500 hrs: Assemble at Taj West End for registration

1600 hrs: A walk in the well-manicured gardens of the Taj

1700 hrs: Hi-Tea with snacks

1730 hrs: Presentation on Splendor of the South tour

1800 hrs: Special Cultural Performance

1845 hrs: Visit to the ISKCON Temple

2015 hrs: Assisted transfer to the Yeshwanthpur railway station. Traditional Welcome. Go aboard The Golden Chariot.

Day 2 Chennai - Mahabalipuram

0730 hrs: Arrival at the Chennai central railway station

0800 hrs: Breakfast on- board

10.00 am: Disembark the train to go to Mamallapuram

11.30 am: Arrive at Mamallapuram for sightseeing including Arjuna's Penance, Krishna's Butter Ball, Five Rathas Temple and Ganesha Temple and Caves

1.30 pm: Special lunch at Radisson Blu Temple Bay Hotel

4.00 pm: Post Hi-Tea, Visit to the Shore Shiva Temple

5.00 pm: Departure for Puducherry, by road

6.30 Pm: Arrive at Puducherry and go on- board the Golden Chariot for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 Puddicherry

0800 hrs: Breakfast on- board the luxury train

10.00 am: Departure for Auroville Ashram. On reaching the Ashram, indulge in sightseeing and shopping at the Ashram and a visit to Matra Mandir

1.30 pm: Special lunch at the Sarovar Promenade Hotel

3.00 pm: Return aboard

5.00 pm: Visit to the Aurobindo Ashram and the Ganesha Temple

7.00 pm: Back on -board the train. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 Thanjavur/Trichy

0730 hrs: Arrival at the Tanjavur railway station

0800 hrs: Breakfast aboard

10.00 am: Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Brihadeshwara Temple. Shopping at the emporium

2.00 pm: Lunch at Ideal River View Resort

4.00 pm: Departure to Trichy, by-road

6.00 pm: In Trichy, visit to the very well-known Sri Rangam Temple

7.30 pm: Back on -board The Golden Chariot (stationed in Trichy)

Dinner and overnight stay

Day 5 Madurai

0800 hrs: Breakfast on -board

10.00 am: Visit the renowned Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple of Madurai

11.30 am: Visit to the 1000- pillared temple and the city museum

1.00 pm: Return aboard for lunch

3.00 pm: Visit the Gandhi Memorial Museum

4.00 pm: Back on-board for relaxing

6.00 pm: Light and Sound show at the Thirumalai Nayak Palace

7.30 pm: Back on- board the train for dinner and overnight stay

Day 6 Kanyakumari/Kovalam

5.00 am: Disembark the train to enjoy the mesmerizing sunrise view

7.30 am:Back on- board for breakfast on board

9.30 am: A visit to the Padmanabhapuram Wooden Palace

1.00 pm: Return on- board for lunch

3.30 pm: Train arrives at the Kocchuveli station

4.00 pm: Disembark the train to go to Vivanta by Taj, Kovalam for Hi-Tea, special cultural performance and dinner

10.30 pm: Back on the train. Stay Overnight.

Day 8 Kochi/Alappuzha

0800 hrs: Breakfast on- board

10.00 am: Disembark the train to go to the Alleppey Jetty and board a houseboat to cruise on the Punnamada Lake

1.00 pm: Arrive at Punnamada Lake Resort for Lunch

2.30 pm: Leave for Fort Kochi

3.30 pm: Arrive at Fort Kochi for sightseeing of the Chinese fishing Nets and Shopping in Jews town and Mattancherry

6.00 pm: Reach Ernakulum South railway Station to go aboard the Golden Chariot

7.30 pm: Train departs for Bangalore

Day 8 Bangalore

0800 hrs: Breakfast on board the Golden Chariot

10.00 am: Arrival at the Yeshwanthpur Railway Station. Check-out formalities and farewell

Terms & Conditions

  • Half fare for children between 5 and 12 years.
  • Christmas and New Year being the peak holiday season calls for a 10% surcharge levied on all departures.
  • As per the Government of India norms, Service Tax @ 5% is levied on the prevalent tariff.
Inclusions

Tariff is inclusive of accommodation on board The Golden Chariot and other resorts/ Travel/ all meals/ conducted sightseeing tours / entrance fees at monuments / parks/ palaces and cultural programs.

Exclusions

Drinks, tips, laundry, telephone calls, video camera fees, spa, business car facilities, liquor and other items of personal nature.

No show/ En route termination of tour/amendment:

No Show -

In case of No Show / Non-arrival of the guest, no refund or adjustment in future travel will be possible. The whole amount shall be treated as forfeited.

En route termination of tour -

In case of termination of tour by the guest, for any reasons, no refund or adjustment for future travel will be possible. The amount for unused portion of the tour shall be treated as forfeited.

Amendment -

Is only possible under the circumstances like Natural Disaster / Natural Calamity or Serious Health Problem's (this needs to be supported by doctor's certificate) and is subject to availability. No refunds are possible and every case be decided on merits on a case to case basis.

Booking Policy

In case of FITs:

  • Payment of 20% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking is mandatory.
  • Remaining 80% of ticket value can be paid 60 days prior to departure.

In case of Group:

  • Payment of 50% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking is mandatory.
  • Remaining 50% of ticket value can be paid 45 days prior to departure.
Cancellation Policy

Cancelation policies as mentioned in the tariff (FIT) are as:

  • When booking is cancelled 60 days prior to departure - 5% of ticket value will be deducted
  • When booking is cancelled 30-59 days prior to departure - 20% of ticket value will be deducted
  • When booking is cancelled 15-29 days prior to departure - 50% of ticket value will be deducted
  • When booking is cancelled less than 14 days prior to departure - 100% of ticket value will be deducted
