Namdroling Monastery also known as Golden Temple is one of the largest Buddhism teaching centre in the world. There are several shopping centres around the monastery where you can buy Tibetan traditional items. This is about 30kms from Madikeri.
  • Talakaveri: Talakaveri is about 45kms from Madikeri. On the way you will visit Bhagamandala Temple & Triveni Sangam (three rivers Kaveri, Sujyothi & Kannike meet). Talakaveri is the birth place of River Kaveri (Cauvery). It is situated on Brahmagiri hills near Bhagamandala. It is situated at a height of 1276m above the sea level and the view from here is magnificent. The Temple here is dedicated to Goddess Kaveramma. You will spend more than half day to visit these place from Madikeri.
  • Omkareshwara Temple: This is an old temple built in Eighteen Century dedicated to lord Shiva. It has a Natural Spring Water. There are some outstanding old paintings of god and goddess in the temple complex.
  • Raja Seat: This is one of the main attraction in Madikeri. Raja seat means "Seat of the King". This was a favourite place for the kings of Madikeri where they spent the evening watching the sunset. The view from this place is awesome overlooking the valley and the cliffs.
  • Abbey falls: This is located 8kms from Madikeri town. Sheltered within in the lush green, this water fall is only about 70 feet from the cliff which is a spectacular scene. During Monsoon the flow is much higher.
  • Nisargadhama forest park: This is situated about 30Kms from Madikeri. Nisargadhama is a delta formed by river Kaveri near Kushalanagara is a popular weekend gateway. This park is covered with thick Bamboo groves, Sandalwood, teak trees. Animal like Deers, Rabbit & Peacocks are a common sight. Elephant ride & boating are the attraction here.
  • Dubare Elephant camp: An Elephant forest camp situated on the banks of River Kaveri is about 37kms from Madikeri. It was once an Elephant training camp for Mysuru Dusshera Elephants.
