Another attraction in Amritsar is the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum. Once the summer palace of the great Maharaja, it was converted into a museum in the year 1977. The legacy of Maharaja Ranjit Singh is well-known. Known as the Lion of Punjab, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Sikh Empire in India which held sway over a very large territory. This palace was converted into a museum in the year 1997, and houses a rare collection of objects associated with Maharaja Ranjit Singh like armor, arms, outstanding paintings, old coins and various manuscripts.

Situated in the middle of the lovely Ram Bagh Garden in Amritsar, the museum is an enormously circular and two-storied building that sheds light on the various aspects of the Sikh Empire. By Rail

From Amritsar Junction Railway Station, the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum is located at a distance of almost 3km, and a drive of almost 12 minutes. From the station, you can hire private vehicles and taxis to reach the desired destination.  

By Road

Amritsar, located on the NH (National Highway) 1, is well-connected by road to the rest of the country. There are daily bus services, both government and private, operate to and from cities like Ambala, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu and Patiala.
