Daulatabad Fort

Located atop a hill, Daulatabad was built in 14th century. Its first owner was Muhammad Bin Tughluq. The ruler forced people in Delhi to shift here, and so they did. But the people, after two years, abandoned it due to lack of water. The fort is 200 meters high and stands on a conical hill. Only entranceway for this fort is a narrow bridge that can be used only by two people at a time. Chand Minar, Chini Mahal and Baradari are some most loved structures inside the fort. Chand Minar was erected by Alauddin Brahman Shah in 1435 AD. It is 63 meters high and stands opposite to Jumma Masjid. Jumma Musjid has pillars that originally belong to a temple. Chini Mahal is located on the lower side of the fort and this is where King Golconda was imprisoned by Aurangzeb in 1687 AD. Baradari is situated on the summit.

Around the Fort:Once you are in Daulatabad Fort, do not forget to visit Kagzi Pura, Zarzari Zar Baksh’s Tomb and Bhadra Murti Temple.
