A tiny island in the Arabian Sea, Diu is emerging is attracting considerable tourist interest. Diu boasts of a pretty long and ancient history that can be traced back to the legends and the mythology. The signing of the defence treaty between Bahadurshah, Sultan of Gujarat, and the Portuguese was followed by the construction of this fort. The fort incorporates a towering lighthouse. You will also chance upon heaps of iron shells and several canons.

The Fortress of Panikotha or Fortim-do-Mar is also counted among the popular forts and monuments in Diu. It’s a splendid structure built out of stone. This fort also boasts of a light house and a small chapel that is dedicated to Our Lady of the Sea.
