Monuments in Faizabad

The monuments in Faizabad stands firm even today as a replica of the golden old times that the city has experienced during the reign of the Mughal rulers. During the life time of Shuja-ud-daulah, he resided here with his wife. Shuja-ud-daulah died in the year 1775 on 26th January and after that Bahu Begum continued to live here till her death.

The Mausoleum of Bahu Begum was built in the year 1816. The Mausoleum of Bahu Begum is built of white marbles and is 42 meters high. A beautiful view of the city is seen from the top of the Mausoleum of Bahu Begum. The Mausoleum of Bahu Begum is considered to be the best and only of its kind in the whole of Awadh.

Another monument at Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh in India is the Mausoleum of Shuja-ud-daulah which is situated at a short distance of 2.5 kilometer from the Mausoleum of Bahu Begum, often referred to as the Gulab Bari.
