It was home to only 42 animals and approximately 236 bird species but the numbers have massively swelled up to 895 animals, reptiles, and bird species. From endangered species to migratory birds; Assam State Zoo cum botanical garden is home to a diverse number of animals, reptiles, and birds.

The major attractions of Assam State Zoo include horned Indian rhinoceros, brow-antlered deer, tiger, golden langur, Himalayan black bear, serow, elephant, hoolock gibbon, slow loris, binturong, leopard cat, jungle cat, and clouded leopard.

Assam State Zoo Timings 

You can visit here between 7 am and 4:30 pm in the summers and 8 am to 4 pm in the winters. The botanical garden is closed every Friday.

The entry fee for the state zoo is just INR 30  per person. But the place is very happening for wildlife lovers because they can enjoy their time spotting various animals and birds.

The zoo in Assam is located in the center of Guwahati city and can easily be reached by car or taxi. The Guwahati railway station is located approx. 6 km from the zoo and the Guwahati Airport is around 25 km from Guwahati.
