Lal Baag Palace

Lal Baag Palace is situated in Indore City. Indore is regarded as the Industrial and the Financial Capital of Madhya Pradesh. Formerly, it had been under the Holkar dynasty ad afterwards the British came to India and defeated the Marathas in a battle. So, a large part of the territory had to be submitted to the British.

So, the Holkars, now a part of the British domination in India, had to shift their capital from Maheshwar to Indore. So, the present city owes it origin from the Holkars. There were also two splendid temples like the Indreshwar and the Indrapur. From these two temples, Indore has gained its recent name. Description of Lal Baag Palace :

Lal Baag Palace lies in the South Western part of the city of Indore. It is encircled by a beautiful garden that has flowers and of rare origin. The palace was actually built between 1886 and 1921and had been the house of the great Holkar, named Usha Raje.

The Lal Baag Palace in Indore is one of the exquisite places of the Holkar Dynasty. It has a pleasant a pool in front of it that has the statue of a mermaid in the middle of it. This provides the garden with a touch of exquisiteness and splendor.

The figure is carved with precision and care. Moreover the rooms of the palace have been renovated to give them the touch of splendor as they have been previously associated with it.

The entire complex measures approximately about 28 acres and it is also bedecked with Italian Marbles that make the columns all the more glamorous, grand chandeliers, and also the rich Persian carpets.

The carpets endow the arena with a royal look that is integrally associated with the Palace. Moreover you can also discover the flying nymphs that are inscribed on the ceiling, giving the impression of them flying overhead; Belgium stained Glass Windows enables the Palace to reflect the royalty again.

There are also the Italian Style paintings on the wall, and it seems that Italy had been the prime influence on the building of the palace. The palace consists of the most beautiful Rose Garden of the World.

Indore has a domestic airport called the Devi Ahalyabai International Airport, so one can come straight to Indore by the air route. But you can also come to the Indore Station because it is the busiest Rail Station in India, all round the year trains are available and one can access the Meter gauge or the Broad Gauge directly. Buses and cars that ply in the city can take you to Lal Bagh Palace Indore.
