The five rivers that flow through the district include Doodh River, Hatkul River, Mahanadi River, Turu River and Sindur River. The district's economy is based on agriculture. The main crop of the area is Rice. The other major crops are chana, Kodo, wheat, sugar cane, bhutta, Moong and Tilli.
