Tourist Attraction in Kausani

Kausani is a picturesque hill town in Uttarakhand. Nestled at an elevation of 1890 m above sea level, it is blessed with panoramic views of the snowcapped Himalayas. The spectacular sunrise and sunsets are famed for their magical appeal. The hill town is an ideal getaway for weekend where one can get away from hustle-bustle of cities. Kausani’s blessed ambiance has earned it praise from every visitor. The pictorial setting is the birthplace of the famous Hindi poet Sumitra Nandan Pant. He wrote some of his memorable poems in praise of this earthly paradise. The peaceful ambiance is said to have also inspired the Father of the Nation. In 1929, Mahatma Gandhi stayed here for 14 days at the Anasakti Ashram. Greatly impressed by its environs, he gave the hill town the sobriquet of ‘Switzerland of India’.

The popular tourist attractions in Kausani are the beautiful Rudradhari waterfall and Kausani Caves. The revered site is said to be associated with Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.
