Fort Kochi

With its European heritage and a temperament that shy away some of the best cosmopolitan towns of India, Fort Kochi is crowned as the jewel of Kerala. Existing as a small region in the city of Kochi, but a major tourist attraction, it beautifully retains the charm of its bygone era. Famous as Old Kochi or West Kochi, the region possesses a huge assortment of architectures that reflects its long history of foreign invasions and settlements.

A Perfect place for history buffs and Europen charm, Fort Kochi houses various edifices of the bygone era. As one makes his way through the different corners of this wonderland, he would be likely to come across historical sites and natural harbors. Prime ancient structures in the vicinity of Fort Cochin are St Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica, Mattancherry Palace, Dutch Cemetery, Fort Emmanuel, Jewish Synagogue, Jain temple and Cochin Thirumala Devaswom temple.

Besides the architectural marvels, the region also offers to have a glimpse of Kochi’s rural life. This can be best achieved on a boat ride across the awe inspiring blue lagoons in the region.  Apart from this, there is always an option to spend the time in leisure at the very beautiful Fort Kochi beach.
