Located around 5km away from Paravur on Paravur-Paripally road, Puthenkulam elephant village is one of the most popular tourist spots in Kollam. Acquiring area upto3.5 acres, the place is home to more than 40 elephants, including the tallest elephant of Kerala named Puthenkulam Ananthapadmanabhan. The place is flocked by Indian as well as International visitors in great numbers, particularly during winter months (November to March). In fact, it is a great lifetime experience to spend some happy moments with elephants and their mahouts.
Moreover, with the help of a tour guide you can indulge in joyful elephant ride, trekking, elephant feeding and bathing. The elephant rides are available from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. You can also see some amazing elephant ornaments like gold plated caparisons, umbrellas, Aalavattom, Venchamaram and necklaces.
Further, you can reach here by all modes of transportation. Trivandrum International airport is the nearest airport to Parippally, around 44km. Later, you can hire a taxi to travel to village, around 5km away. The nearest train station is Paravur train station, further you can take a route to Parippally.
