Established by a school teacher in Andaman and Nicobar Island, Raji Punnoose, Bay Island Driftwood Museum, Kumarakom is known for deploying advanced contemporary art techniques for designing different types of tree-trunk and root sculptures.
Some of the other exhibits includes sculptures made from driftwood including roots, stumps, trunks of the trees and more. Punnoose has herself made this collection during her teaching days, and the displayed collection comprises of formation in shapes of animals, birds, fishes, reptiles and amphibians. The museum also finds its place in the Limca Books of Records because of the amazing techniques used by the curator.
