Located at a distance of 32 km from Munnar in the lofty Western Ghats, Top Station is the highest view point of the hill station, at an altitude of 1700 m, lying on the Munnar-Kodaikkanal road. It is one of the best locations in Munnar to savor enchanting views of the surrounding Western Ghats and Tamil Nadu’s lush valley in Theni district. This tourist attraction of Munnar is located on Kerala-Tamil Nadu border and is a favorite spot of tourists as well as locals from where they can enjoy the sight of blooming Neelakurinji flowers. The experience is simply amazing and it feels like one is cloud-walking.
Top Station derives its name from the highest railway station here that is in Kundala Valley. The place also has a historical connection. In olden times, it was transshipment point from where tea was delivered to Madupatty and Munnar, by train, and later was dropped down to Kottagudi, by rope.
One can enjoy lovely views from here, mainly between April and May. Top station is easily reachable from Munnar. After regular intervals buses come here from Munnar to top station viewpoint. Private cab is the other option. The Kurinjimala sanctuary another nearby attraction that can be visited.
