Sitabuldi Fort

The Sitabuldi Fort is an important monument in the city of Nagpur. It serves as a historic landmark for Indian history. The fort is placed between the Twin Mountains. One of the well known attractions, the Sitabuldi Fort is an important monument of Nagpur. Located in the heart of the city, the fort is set between the twin hills of Sitabuldi. The fort was built by a British officer back in 1857.

The fort has a war memorial which has been built to commemorate the bravery of the soldiers who lost their lives during the popular Anglo-Maratha war. The memorial and the graves are maintained by the Indian Army as a mark of remembrance and respect for the courage of the soldiers.

The fort has the office of Indian Territorial Army. A number of tourists both locals and foreigners are invited every year to the fort for showing them the rich history of the country.

The star attraction of the fort is the cell where Mahatma Gandhi was imprisoned. Also, the fort is located in a picturesque location which offers a great view to all the visitors. The best time to visit the Fort is on 15th August or 26th January when it is open to public.

The Sitabuldi Fort is open to the public only on 15th August or 26th January every year.
