Located 46 kms from Bhopal, Sanchi is located beautifully at the foot of a secluded hill. It holds an unsurpassed place in the history of Buddhism. These temples are carved beautifully and thus are made to look unique in the whole world. Buddha according to early Buddhism was not visible in a bodily form and would be manifested through different symbols. There are various symbols through which the various stages of life are symbolized. Birth is symbolized by a lotus, enlightenment by a bo tree, preaching by the wheel of law, death by stupas, and the first oration at Deer Park would be indicated by a deer. Various inscriptions are also engraved inside these temples beautifully.
