Heritage Park Tripura

Established by the Government of Tripura, Heritage Park is among Tripura's best places to visit. The Chief Minister of Tripura inaugurated it in 2012. At the entrance of Heritage Park Tripura, you will be mind blown by the art and culture of tribal and non-tribal sections of Tripura’s glorious history. 

Heritage Park Tripura is a 12-acre park covering 1.1 km. It connects three sections of the park - The Mini Tripura, The Natural Forest, and The Medicinal Plant Table Top. Also, it has a beautiful garden manicured and sculpted by the best landscape designers. 

Attractions in Heritage Park

The highlight of Heritage Park in Tripura is the smaller versions of the wonders of Tripura. These include Neermahal Palace, Tripura Sundari Temple, Unakoti sculptures, Ujjayanta Palace, Mahamuni, Stone relics of Pilak, and Chandrapur. 

In addition, Heritage Park has plenty of natural resources from the state forestry planted in the wild forest part. It preserved the indigenous trees, exotic flowers, and animals of Tripura. Heritage benches, monuments, wood carvings, stone statues, earthen potteries, and more are featured in the Heritage Park.

How to Reach Heritage Park Tripura

Heritage Park is located only 12 km away from Agartala Airport and around 10 km from Agartala railway station. You can hire buses or taxis from Agartala or nearby cities to reach Heritage Park.

Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary

Visit Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary, located approx. 105 km away from Heritage Park. The main attraction of this place is Gaur (Bison). Other wildlife species include Hollock Gibbon, Golden Langur, Capped Langur, Deer, and Pheasant. Birds and reptiles are also found here in huge numbers. The wildlife sanctuary is in the South Tripura District and can be reached from Belonia in the south or Sonamura in the north. It has a total area of 163.08 square kilometers and is linked with Agartala by a state highway.

Tripura Sundari Temple Or Matabari

A beautiful temple in Udaipur, around 60 km from Heritage Park, Tripura Sundari Temple is the oldest in the district. It is an ancient temple dating 500 years back. Tripura Sundari Temple is also among the 51 Shakti Peethas and is said to be where the right foot of Sati fell. Keeping in mind its history, this temple receives devotees in great numbers. Apart from this, the temple has a legend that says that Lord Vishnu dismembered Sati into 51 parts with his Sudarshana Chakra, and places, where Sati’s part fell, are known as the Shakti Peethas. 

Dumboor Lake

Visit Dumboor Lake, a water body in Amarpur Sub Division. Its shape resembles a small drum, just like the Dumboor of Lord Shiva, from which this lake’s name originates. Hills surround the lake and have 48 islets inside it that are emerald green and captivate the tourist. Winter is the best time to visit Dumboor Lake as hundreds of migratory birds come here. Moreover, a hydel project is nearby from where the Gomti River begins; thus, it is called Tirthamukh. A grand Mela or fair is held here annually on Poush Sankranti on 14th January. You can boat to the lake to make the most of your time.

Neermahal

Situated 54 km away from Heritage Park is Neermahal. It is a former palace of the royals that King Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur of the former Kingdom of Tripura established. Witness the exquisite architecture, a blend of Hindu and Muslim styles. Neermahal is situated in the middle of Rudrasagar Lake, mesmerizing the scenery. It is one of a kind palace and the only one in east India. Neermahal has two parts - the western side is called Andar Mahal and is made for the royal family, and the eastern side is an open-air theater where you can see dance, theater, and cultural performances.
