Summer Season (April to June)
The summer season starts in April and it lasts till June. The weather during the daytime remains hot while the evenings become cold. It is advisable to carry light woolens as the temperature dips by the end of the day. The temperature ranges between 14 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius. This is the peak season owing to summer break in schools and colleges. A large number of pilgrims flock there in this season.
Monsoon Season (July to August)
The region receives medium to heavy rainfall in the monsoon season, which commences in July and lasts till August. The humidity remains high in this season and temperature ranges from 18 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius. It is highly recommendable to carry an umbrella and raincoat. This is an offseason due to which tourists can get great deals. Monsoon season is ideal for budget travelers.
Winter Season (September to March)
Vaishno Devi experiences sub-zero temperatures in the winter season. The original Vaishno Devi cave also opens in December and January and performing Darshan through this cave is a once in a lifetime experience. Navratri Festival and New Year are also celebrated with great zeal and vigor. This is the peak season. The region also received snow showers, which transforms the region into a wonderland. It is advisable to carry heavy woolens, caps, gloves, and wear comfortable trekking shoes.
