The same news flashed on the news channel over an over again. Next day the morning news paper also has covered the same old news but in a newer way. Are you perplexed, disturbed: Don't these media people have anything else to do? Is India lacking in News? No; instead India is having grand marriages and that is why the whole country is after it. The whole country wants to know about these celebrities, after all hey are icons.

Be it the corporate big wigs like the Saharas and the Mittals, or the Bollywood actors like Aishwarya-Abhisekh or hotelier like Vikram Chatwal, each of their weddings had one thing in common. All of these wedding ceremonies are nothing less than fairy tales. All of these marriages are the great celebrity weddings in India. All of these weddings are elaborate, expensive and emotional events.

The celebrity weddings are famous ones as they showcase the glamor and glitz of Indian wedding ceremonies in true sense but in an extravagant way. Recently India also saw the grandest of all weddings: The first lady of Indian cinema got married to the heir of Amitabh Bachchan. This was another event which caught the headlines for long. Though it was declared an extremely private event but it did not matter for the journalists who waited for hours outside Bachchan's residence Mannat or the venue Pratiksha. They cars of the bride and groom were hounded by the journo until they were stopped at the gates of the venue by hundreds of security personnel. The gloss and grandeur new no bounds and it made to every means of Media who tried their best to make it a social event.

Last year the same thing happened when Vikram Chatwal got married to Priya Sachdev. It was the greatest marriage of the year 2006. The hotelier Vikram Chatwal On 18th Feb 06, tied his wedding knot with Priya Sachdev, a Delhi based model. Vikram Chatwal Priya Sachdev wedding was truly an epitome of splendid grandeur. This grand wedding consisted of top class ambience and its guest list included people from Iran to USA. Clintons, steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal and his son Aditya, supermodel Naomi Campbell, Prince of Iran, Prince Nicolas of Greece, US Congressman Joe Crowley and UK industrialist SP Hinduja are a few big wigs, who graced this glitzy mega event.

Another eventful marriage was that of "Desi-gone-abroad" businessman Arun Nayar and his fiancée, Hollywood actress Liz Hurley. The couple got married on March 2007. They married once in Britain and then the next league of celebrations continued in Nayar's homeland, India. The much-talked about couple had been the center of attention both in Britain as well India for their one of a kind pair. After an English wedding in Britain, there had been celebrations for over 5 days in traditional Indian customs in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The families of the couple stayed at the Devi Garh.

The wedding of two sons of corporate giant Subrata Roy was to be a great event and it proved to be such event of course. It was a spectacular event held at the Sahara Shaher in Lucknow. Starting from the pre wedding celebrations held at their palatial residence Swapna Kuti, it became a big hit. More than 11,000 guests around the world attended the grand finale at Sahara Shaher. Among the people who attended the function includes names like business giant Anil Ambani, politician Mulayam Singh Yadav, cricketer Kapil Dev, actor Amitabh Bachhan, and actress Aishwarya Rai to name a few. There was nothing left to be done on a wedding ceremony. In one word it was just magnificent.

Similarly the wedding of the daughter of London-based steel tycoon Laxmi Niwas Mittal was another remarkable event in the history of Indian Traditional Marriages. Vanisha the daughter of Laxmi Niwas Mittal got married to Amit Bhatia, an investment banker based in London. The venue of the wedding was the Palace of Versailles, where the French 'Sun King' Louis XIV held court in the 17th century. The wedding was celebrated for six days and cost millions of pounds. It was reported that the total cost of the wedding was around 30m / $55million that is more than rupees two hundred crores in Indian money. For weeks the wedding preparations, main day celebration and guest list made it to the page 3 news of all the leading dallies of the country and abroad. The guest list included names like from Indian and British society. Movie stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta and Aishwarya Rai was present to name a few. Famous lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar, is said, to have written a one-hour play to be staged during the run-up to the vivaah.

So, it helps to conclude no matter what you do, or where you stay, whether you be a celebrity of not it is better to come down to your own home land and get married and steal the show.
