Attractions in Guhagar
Gopalgad Hill
A picturesque trekking place, Gopalgad Hill is located in the Anjanvel village of Guhagar. Atop of a hill, there is a historical fort known as Gopalgad Fort. Built by Siddis in the beginning of the 16th century, Gopalgad Fort was later captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji in 1660. There are two beautiful temples and a lighthouse at the top of the hill.
Guhagar Beach
A long stretch of immaculate white sands, Guhagar Beach offers a serene and secluded environment to the guests. The beach is a perfect place for sunbath, relaxation and meditation. The beach is a popular and safe place for swimming and one can witness many people venturing into sea to take bath.
Anjanvel
An estuary island on the southern bank of Vashishti River, Anjanvel is a nearby village to Guhagar City. Besides, there is an all weather natural seaport popularly known as Anjanvel Port. This seaport offer facilities for shipbuilding and maintenance of old ships. Anjanvel is an orthodox fishing village wherein traditional fishing practices are blended with modern engine boats.
Hedvi
A small village located close to Guhagar, Hedvi is a charming village which features a Lord Ganesha Temple and Sri Dasabhuj Lakshmi Ganesh Devasthan. It is believed that the ancient Ganesh Temple was constructed during the period of Peshwas and the Ganesh idol enshrined within the temple is made out of marble. Other attractions of this village are Uma Maheshwari Temple and the Brahman Ghal.
Velneshwar
A scenic and immaculate village, Velneshwar is located in proximity to Guhagar area. It is a fishing community village located towards the north of Shastri River. The main attraction of this village is the Velneshwar Beach that is dotted with swaying palm trees. Other attractions of this place include Shiva Temple and Velneshwar Temple.
