Transport in Sunderbans is very interesting. It consists of Rail and water route at the same time. This is because Sunderbans is located in the backwater region where the transport system can not be restricted to land only.

The islands are separated by water and so, one has to hire a launch that would make the tourists go to the important spots of Sunderbans and also make the tourist thrilled by the captivating beauty of the side s during the cruise.

Then there is a good opportunity for sight seeing and if you stand at the deck of the launch and observe the sides of the narrow channel of backwater, you would simply be thrilled! Creation can be so majestic and diverse is conspicuous here, at the Sunderbans.

Sunderban extends over an area of 2,585 sq km, and is celebrated for its distinctive flora and fauna (mainly tiger); the UNESCO has declared Sunderbans as a Heritage site. This is a special honor for the Deltaic Sunderbans.

There is a land route from Kolkata to Namkhana, which is 105 km, or even Sonakhali (100km). These routes can be followed once the traveler has almost reached the main entrance of Deltaic Sunderbans. This place is called Namkhana.

In order to get there you can come to the Kolkata Airport which is the nearest Airport to Sunderban National Park. But Canning is the nearest Railway Station and is located just 48 km from the National Park. Thus airways, water ways and land are the several means of transport in Sunderbans National Park.

But the waterways are also favorable and can reach you to your destination in a very short span of time. By riverine waterways one can access the Sunderban delta. Jambudeep, Namkhana are the few places that are linked by waterways.
