• Photography, filming and phone use are not permitted inside the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum; visitors should also remain quiet and follow the security process.
• Avoid shorts, sleeveless tops or revealing clothing at the Mausoleum and religious sites.
• Do not swim in Ha Long Bay outside the stops approved by the cruise crew or when weather and sea conditions are unsafe.
• Do not enter restricted or unsafe tunnel sections at Cu Chi; follow the guide and marked visitor route.
• Do not touch religious objects or interrupt ceremonies at pagodas and temples.
• General tourist access inside Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral is currently not permitted during restoration.
• Avoid littering in Ha Long Bay, the Mekong waterways and heritage areas.

Best fit: March - April and November March and April offer one of the better overall compromises between the north and south. Hanoi becomes more comfortable, Ha Long conditions improve, and southern Vietnam is generally still within its drier period. November also works well, with cooler, clearer conditions in Hanoi and Ha Long while the Mekong moves towards its drier season.

Also possible: January - February, May, September–October and December January and February are pleasant in southern Vietnam but can be cool, cloudy or misty around Hanoi and Ha Long. May is strong in the north but marks the beginning of the wetter season in the south. September and October suit Hanoi and Ha Long particularly well, although showers remain common around Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong. December is drier in the south but cooler in the north.

Avoid / least suitable: June to August These are the weakest months for this particular combination. Hanoi and Ha Long are hot, humid and stormier, while Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong are in their rainy season. Tropical storms can occasionally cause Ha Long cruise cancellations.

• Vietnam’s official e-Visa can currently be issued for up to 90 days, for single or multiple entry. Use the official Vietnam Immigration portal and reconfirm requirements before departure.
• The live package currently excludes both international and internal airfare, so the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City flight should not be assumed to be included.
• Ha Long cruise routes, swimming stops and timings are weather-dependent. Summer tropical storms can lead to schedule changes or cancellations.
• Day 4 combines cruise disembarkation, a road transfer to Hanoi Airport and a domestic flight. Keep a comfortable flight-time buffer rather than planning a tight connection.
• Wear clothing that covers shoulders and knees when visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and religious sites; remove hats when entering temples and pagodas.
• Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral is currently closed to general tourist visits inside because restoration is ongoing; it should be treated as an exterior stop.
• The Cu Chi tunnels are narrow, low and confined in places. Visitors uncomfortable with tight spaces or with mobility difficulties can remain above ground.
• Hanoi can feel surprisingly cool from December to March, while Ho Chi Minh City remains warm year-round, so packing needs to cover two different climates.
