Amidst lush green coffee plantations and spice estates of Coorg, Abbey falls is one spectacular spot that must not be missed by any nature admirer. The beautiful falls are located around 5 kms from the town of Madikeri in Coorg. In order to reach this wonderful creation of nature, one has to travel through dense foliage of coffee plantations that further lead to spice estates which have pepper vines as their prime vegetation. This can be done either on foot or on a two-wheeler. From a height of around 70 ft, the water of the Abbey cascades down with a roaring sound. To have the best view of the waterfall, the authorities have connected a suspension bridge just infront of the gushing waterbody. Owing to the picturesque sight of the waterfall and lush green surroundings, Abbey falls are amongst the best picnic spots in the region. However, swimming under the fall is considered highly unsafe as the flow tends to get rough from time to time. In order to watch the Abbey falls in its full length, one must visit the place during monsoons or in early winters.
