Bounded by lush tea estates and the mighty Western Ghats, Tadiyandamol is the highest peak of Coorg, stands high at an altitude of 5724 feet above the sea level. The peak and its surroundings are quite popular amidst trekking enthusiasts. Also the second highest peak in the Karnataka state, this peak is placed towards the south-eastern part of Coorg. A part (around one-third) of the trek can be covered on a jeep but the remaining part is covered on-foot wherein the upper part of the trek becomes tough. Once you reach the top of the peak, treat your eyes to the enchanting views of the surroundings. Nalaknand Palace, built in the year 1792 by Dodda Veerarajendra, acts as the base camp for the trekkers, who wish to stay overnight before the start climbing Tadiyandamol peak. The palace is a 2-storey building, located on a steep ridge, maintained by the state’s archaeology department. The peak from here is accessible through narrow path. Although a lesser-known one but Tadiandamol trek in Karnataka is one of the most beautiful ones. Enjoy a day’s trek through expansive Shola forests, water streams and verdant greenery. It is advisable to start the trek early morning.
