Itinerary Detail

Day 1:

Arrival in Guwahati – Transfer to Kaziranga (Approx. 195 km / 4–5 hours)

(Approx. 195 km / 4–5 hours)

On arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, meet our representative and begin your scenic drive towards Kaziranga National Park, one of India’s most celebrated wildlife reserves and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The journey takes you through Assam’s lush countryside, wide river plains fed by the Brahmaputra, and stretches of tea gardens that define the region’s landscape.

En route, observe rural Assamese life—traditional stilt houses, paddy fields, and local markets dotting the roadside. By late afternoon, arrive near Kaziranga and check into your wildlife resort, set amid greenery and open spaces close to the park boundaries.

The rest of the evening is free to relax after the drive. You may take a short nature walk around the property, enjoy views of grasslands, or simply unwind in preparation for the upcoming safaris.

Dinner is served at the hotel.

Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 2:

Kaziranga National Park – Wildlife Safaris

Early in the morning, proceed for an elephant safari (subject to availability and forest department regulations), one of the most immersive ways to explore Kaziranga’s tall grasslands. This experience offers close encounters with the park’s iconic wildlife, especially the rare one-horned rhinoceros, along with sightings of swamp deer and wild buffalo in their natural habitat.

After returning to the hotel for breakfast, set out for a jeep safari across one of Kaziranga’s designated ranges. The drive covers a mix of wetlands, forest patches, and open grasslands, making it ideal for spotting birds, deer, and, with luck, predators resting in shaded areas. Kaziranga is also known for its rich birdlife, particularly during migratory seasons.

The afternoon is kept at leisure to allow time for rest after the early start. Guests may relax at the resort, enjoy the surroundings, or revisit photographs from the safaris.

Dinner at the hotel.

Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 3:

Kaziranga – Shillong (Approx. 275 km / 6–7 hours)

(Approx. 275 km / 6–7 hours)

After breakfast, check out from your wildlife resort and begin the scenic drive towards Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya and one of the most picturesque hill cities in North East India. As you leave the plains of Assam behind, the landscape gradually changes—flat river valleys give way to rolling hills, pine forests, and winding mountain roads.

The drive itself is an experience, passing through forested stretches, small hill settlements, and waterfalls that appear along the roadside, especially during and after the monsoon months. En route, stop at Umiam Lake (Barapani), a vast man-made reservoir set against a backdrop of pine-covered hills. This viewpoint is among the most photographed locations in Meghalaya and offers a refreshing break during the long journey.

Continue onwards to Shillong and check into your hotel upon arrival. The evening is kept free to unwind after the drive. You may explore local markets such as Police Bazaar, enjoy Shillong’s relaxed café culture, or simply take a stroll to experience the cool hill climate that has earned the city its nickname—the “Scotland of the East.”

Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 4:

Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Shillong (Approx. 110 km round trip)

(Approx. 110 km round trip)

After breakfast, depart for a full-day excursion to Cherrapunjee (Sohra), a destination globally known for its dramatic terrain, limestone geology, and record rainfall. The drive from Shillong is filled with scenic viewpoints, deep gorges, and cloud-covered cliffs that offer breathtaking panoramas of the Khasi Hills.

Begin sightseeing with visits to Seven Sisters Falls, especially impressive during the monsoon when the segmented cascades plunge down lush green cliffs. Continue to viewpoints overlooking Nohkalikai Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India, dropping from a sheer height into a deep emerald pool below.

Later, explore Krem Mawmluh Cave, an ancient limestone cave system of geological significance. The cave offers insight into Meghalaya’s unique underground formations and plays an important role in understanding regional climate history. Throughout the day, enjoy sweeping views of forested slopes and distant plains of Bangladesh visible on clear days.

By evening, drive back to Shillong for rest after a full day of exploration.

Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 5:

Shillong – Mawlynnong – Shillong (Approx. 180 km round trip)

(Approx. 180 km round trip)

Post breakfast, set out for an excursion to Mawlynnong Village, often referred to as one of the cleanest villages in Asia. The drive takes you through scenic countryside dotted with streams, forests, and Khasi hamlets.

On arrival, take a guided walk through the village, observing bamboo pathways, flower-lined homes, and community-managed spaces that reflect strong local participation in sustainable tourism. The village is a fine example of how traditional lifestyles and environmental responsibility coexist.

Visit the nearby Living Root Bridge, a remarkable natural structure created by guiding the aerial roots of rubber fig trees across streams over several generations. This living architecture highlights the ingenuity and ecological knowledge of local Khasi communities.

Later in the afternoon, return to Shillong. The evening is free to relax, shop for local handicrafts, or enjoy the peaceful ambience of the hill town.

Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 6:

Shillong – Guwahati (Approx. 100 km / 3 hours

(Approx. 100 km / 3 hours)

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin the return journey to Guwahati, the gateway city to North East India. The drive descends from the hills back into the plains of Assam, offering changing landscapes along the way.

On arrival in Guwahati, proceed to visit the revered Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important Shakti Peethas in India. Perched atop Nilachal Hill, the temple is associated with ancient Tantric traditions and offers panoramic views of the Brahmaputra River (darshan subject to temple timings and crowd conditions).

After the temple visit, check into your hotel in Guwahati. The rest of the evening is at leisure for rest or a short local outing, depending on arrival time and energy levels.

Overnight stay in Guwahati.
