After breakfast, depart for a full-day excursion to Cherrapunjee (Sohra), a destination globally known for its dramatic terrain, limestone geology, and record rainfall. The drive from Shillong is filled with scenic viewpoints, deep gorges, and cloud-covered cliffs that offer breathtaking panoramas of the Khasi Hills.
Begin sightseeing with visits to Seven Sisters Falls, especially impressive during the monsoon when the segmented cascades plunge down lush green cliffs. Continue to viewpoints overlooking Nohkalikai Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India, dropping from a sheer height into a deep emerald pool below.
Later, explore Krem Mawmluh Cave, an ancient limestone cave system of geological significance. The cave offers insight into Meghalaya’s unique underground formations and plays an important role in understanding regional climate history. Throughout the day, enjoy sweeping views of forested slopes and distant plains of Bangladesh visible on clear days.
By evening, drive back to Shillong for rest after a full day of exploration.
