Itinerary Detail

Day 1:

Arrive at Paro by Druk Air

After arriving at Paro Airport via Druk Air, a tour representative will greet you and assist in your smooth transfer to your pre-booked hotel in Thimpu.

Following check-in, rest a bit to straighten your back. The remainder of your day is free for leisure activities and exploring the nearby regions. 

In the evening, head back to your hotel for dinner and spend the night in Thimphu.

Day 2:

Thimphu

The second day of your 8 Days Bhutan Tour for Family is dedicated to a sightseeing tour of Thimphu. Have your breakfast and get ready for exploration. First visit to the National Library, which houses a significant collection of Buddhist texts and manuscripts.

You will then be taken to the Painting School, which is known for its tango paintings. Then, visit the Traditional Medicine Institute to gain insight into the country’s rich tradition of herbal medicine, as well as training and research in the field.

Enjoy the evening exploring the Folk Heritage Museum, the Memorial Chorten, built in memory of the third king of Bhutan, Tashichhodzong, and the Handicrafts Emporium. 

Stay overnight at the hotel in Thimpu.

Day 3:

Thimphu – Trongsa (185 Km/ 4.9 Hrs)

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Dochula Pass. 

On the way, stop at Gangkar Plenum, Bhutan’s highest peak at 7,497 meters. After that, continue your journey toward Wangduephodrang. In Wangduephodrang, take lunch and head to Trongsa via Pelela Pass. 

On the way, halt at Chendebji Chorten, built by a llama named Shida in the 18th century. Upon arrival in Trongsa, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Complete your check in formalities, have dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 4:

Trongsa – Bumthang (78 Km/ 2.4 Hrs)

After breakfast, leave the hotel and head to Trongsa Dzong, built by Shabdrung in 1647. After that, visit Ta Dzong (watch tower), a shrine dedicated to King Gesar of Ling. 

Later, drive to Bumthang, which is around 3 hours. Along the way, you’ll travel through the Yutong La pass.

Upon arrival in Bumthang, check in at the lodge. Afterward, visit Kurje Lhakhang, a Buddhist monastery where Padmasambhava tamed a devil and left his body mark. Afterwards, explore Jambay Lhakhang, Tamshing Monastery, Jakar Dzong, and Swiss Farm House.

Afterwards return to the lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 5:

Bumthang – Punakha (213 Km / 6 Hrs)

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and explore the enchanting valley of Bumthang. Afterwards, proceed to Trongsa for lunch.

Later, drive towards Punakha. As you travel, stop by Wangduephodrang Dzong and the local town. After arriving in Punakha, check into your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 6:

Punakha – Paro (114.7 km / 3.1 Hrs)

In the morning, have breakfast, and then visit Punakha Dzong, a massive complex that lies at the confluence of two rivers. Post lunch, proceed towards Paro. 

On the way, visit a traditional Bhutanese Farm House, which provides an insight into the local lifestyle. Upon arrival in Paro, check into the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 7:

Paro

After breakfast, begin your Paro sightseeing tour.

The first stop is Paro Valley, home of the Ta Dzong, the watchtower of the Paro Dzong. After lunch, drive to Drukgyel Dzong, built in 1647 to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over the Tibetans. On the way, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, the most sacred shrine in Bhutan. After exploring, return to your hotel for sleep and dinner.

Day 8:

Paro Depart

You have reached the end of your 8-day Bhutan family tour package. Get up early, eat breakfast, and check out of the hotel. After that, you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight home.
