Beaches in North Goa are great for party lovers and those looking for something more than just sunbathing. The various beaches in this region including Vagator Beach, Baga Beach and Anjuna Beach, among others, host the best parties in town, are great for enjoying watersports and offer delicious seafood.
On the other hand, South Goa is great for those who love their solitude and tranquility. The various beaches including Butterfly Beach, Majorda Beach and Palolem Beach, apart from others, are great for those looking to spend a day in complete relaxation. They provide magnificent views and are great for getting away from all the usual hustle and bustle.

Goa is also famous for its forts. There are several forts in Goa that are great for sightseeing and exploration. The various forts in Goa are also a reminder of its colonial legacy. The Portuguese, having ruled Goa for a long period of time, erected several forts which served their purpose as fortifications and military stronghold. Although several of them are in ruins now, they offer great exploration opportunities.
The most famous forts of Goa are Fort Chapora, Fort Aguada, Fort Cabo de Rama, Fort Corjuem and Fort Rachol, besides others. Besides the sightseeing opportunities which these forts provide, there is something worth exploring in every fort.

Shopping is another favorite activity of the tourists. The Flea Markets at Anjuna is a bustling market where you find all sorts of souvenirs, handicrafts, beachwear and trinkets. Another popular shopping destination is the Friday Market at Mapusa which attracts tourists with an interesting variety of exhibits including old coins, curious, spices and dried fish.
The handicrafts of Goa are also very popular with the tourists. Some of the best items worth checking out are the terracotta, brass items from Bicholim and sea shells ranging from chandeliers to mirrors to idols. The best place to buy the handicrafts are at the handicraft emporia and stalls at the major tourist spots.

Water Sports

Goa’s incredible beaches provide you the best opportunities for enjoying various water sports including parasailing, water scooter, white water rafting and scuba diving, apart from others. While parasailing is popular at Baga Beach, tourists can enjoy water scooter at Majorda and Candolim beaches.
The best place and time to enjoy white water rafting in Goa is the Mhadei River during the months of October to May. If you love angling, then Agonda Beach is where you need to head to. Windsurfing is another favorite with the tourists for the adrenaline rush it provides. The ideal location for enjoying this sport is Dona Paula bay.

Wildlife

Goa is also home to an exotic species of wildlife which can be seen in its various wildlife sanctuaries. Some of the wildlife sanctuaries of Goa are Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary, Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary.
A unique spectacle awaits tourists once a year in Goa, when the Olive Ridley Turtles come ashore on Goa’s beaches for nesting. These turtles lay hundreds of eggs and upon hatching, head back to the sea. It’s a wonderful sight to watch. The places where you can enjoy this occurrence are Galgibag, Morjim and Agonda beaches.
