Nariyal Poornima is a regional festival, held at Daman every year and is managed by the administration of Daman and Diu and West Zone Cultural Centre. This festival is a mix bag of a various colorful water sports activities, organized at the creek between Moti and Nani Daman and cultural activities in the month of August. The coconut food festival is the prime highlight. The festival is a celebration of the end of the monsoon season and the beginning of the fishing season for the sea -faring community who reside in this coastal region. The locals look forward to continue with their sailing and get back to their livelihood and adventurous lifestyle. On this occasion, the locals visit the seashore to offer Nariyal, coconut to the Gods of wind and water, strengthening their belief in nature and also indulging in feasting later.
