How to Reach Egypt

If you are planning to visit the Land of Pharaohs, you must know how to reach Egypt. It is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the world and is well-connected with other countries including India by air. The main airport of Egypt is Cairo International Airport that connects Egypt with India via regular flights. Apart from Cairo, Egypt has many international airports including Alexandria, Sharm el-Sheikh, Aswan, Luxor, and Hurghada. However, most flights from India land at Cairo International Airport. From there, one can use public or private transport and reach their desired destination.

How to Reach Egypt by Air/Flight

Flight is the best way to reach Egypt from India. Egypt has two main airports - Cairo International Airport and Luxor International Airport. Others are located in Aswan, Alexandria, and Sharm el-Sheikh. 

For a vacation at the Red Sea, flights operate directly to Sharm el-Sheikh. While Cairo International Airport operates flights to and from India. Tourists can easily get flights to Cairo from Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Kolkata.

The fastest route is from Mumbai to Egypt. There is also only one nonstop flight to Cairo from Mumbai that runs on three days only - Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It takes about 6 hours 40 minutes to reach and is controlled by Egyptair. 

One-stop flights to Egypt are available from Delhi that are operated by Kuwait Airways and Egypt Air via Kuwait City. This flight is 8 hours long. Chennai is another place in India from where you can get one-stop flights to Cairo. 

An Egypt visa is required for Indian citizens to visit Egypt on a holiday. It is valid for 90 days and cannot be extended beyond 30 days. Make sure to check the visa details before applying for flight tickets to Egypt. 

From the airports, trains, buses, car rentals, carriages, and taxis are available to travel to your desired location. Cairo is the biggest city and is the center of all transportation. Also, flights are available from Cairo to Luxor and Aswan by Egyptair frequently.

How to Reach Egypt by Road

There are no feasible ways to reach Egypt from India. However, the cities in Egypt are connected by well-maintained roads and are easily accessible. Car rentals, door-to-door service via pre-arranged shuttle, and taxi services are also available in Egypt.

How to Reach Egypt by Train

Egypt cannot be reached from India by train. You can use Egyptian Railways to travel from one city to another in Egypt. You must know the most popular railway line connects Cairo to Alexandria. On the Cairo-Luxor/Aswan routes, tourists are only permitted to use four ‘tourist trains’.
