• Do not enter Kaziranga independently; safaris should follow the authorised route, vehicle and Forest Department guide arrangements. Assam Tourism states that a Forest Department guide must accompany visitors.
• Do not leave the safari vehicle except at locations where the forest staff specifically permit it.
• Do not feed, call to, chase or provoke wildlife, and avoid unnecessary noise during safaris.
• Drone use should not be undertaken in the national park or other protected/sensitive zones without the required official permissions; the live package itself warns that drone use is restricted in wildlife reserves and sensitive border areas.
• At Sohra, do not swim in unknown or restricted water bodies, cross safety barriers or leave marked trails.
• Do not damage or remove stalactites, stalagmites or other cave formations.
• Do not attempt deep sections of Mawmluh Cave without appropriate local guidance.
• Do not damage or pull at the roots of the living root bridge.
• Photography is not permitted inside Kamakhya's temples.
• Do not litter inside Kaziranga, caves, villages, waterfalls or forested areas.

Best fit: November to April

This is the strongest period for the complete circuit. Kaziranga safaris operate during the tourism season, while Shillong, Sohra and Mawlynnong generally have cooler, drier conditions for walking, caves and sightseeing. Assam Tourism specifically recommends November–April for Kaziranga.

October can work after Kaziranga officially reopens, but safari availability may be phased. For the current 2026–27 season, the Forest Department notice sets jeep safaris from 3 October 2026, while elephant safaris begin from 1 November, so an October departure cannot automatically promise both experiences.

Avoid: May to September

This package should not normally be sold as written during these months because Kaziranga's core safari experience is unavailable or unreliable during the monsoon closure period. Meghalaya is spectacularly green, and its waterfalls are powerful during the rains, but heavy rainfall also increases slippery terrain and travel disruption.

• Kaziranga is seasonal. For the 2026–27 season, jeep safaris begin on 3 October and elephant safaris from 1 November, with ranges reopening in phases.
• Elephant safari seats are limited. Assam Tourism advises advance reservations, and availability should never be guaranteed until confirmed.
• The assigned Kaziranga safari range may vary according to permits, availability, road conditions and Forest Department decisions.
• Wildlife sightings are natural and unpredictable. Do not promise rhino, tiger, elephant or other specific sightings.
• Day 3 is a long transfer day, with Kaziranga–Shillong taking roughly 6–7 hours before the Umiam stop and city traffic.
• Mawmluh Cave requires more physical effort than a standard sightseeing cave. Expect uneven rocks, narrow sections, low ceilings and potentially wet terrain; a local guide is strongly recommended.
• For families, seniors or travellers with limited mobility, confirm whether Mawmluh is appropriate before finalising the itinerary.
• Sohra authorities advise visitors to stay on marked trails, respect barriers and avoid unknown swimming areas because cliffs, currents and slippery terrain can be hazardous.
• Mawlynnong is often marketed as “Asia’s cleanest village.” For more accurate editorial copy, mention that it received this recognition from Discover India in 2003 rather than presenting it as a current ranking.
• Kamakhya Temple can involve long darshan queues, so Day 6 should remain flexible.
• Photography is prohibited inside the temples of the Kamakhya complex.
• Mobile connectivity and digital payments may be inconsistent in some rural stretches, so carrying some cash and offline booking details is useful.
