Cooler and generally drier weather makes the road journeys, temple visits and sightseeing in Ahmedabad, Somnath, Porbandar and Dwarka more comfortable. Gujarat Tourism identifies November–February as the state's main season.

Also possible: March, September and October

March is generally workable but starts getting warmer. September and October can also work, though humidity, lingering monsoon showers and warmer daytime conditions may require greater flexibility.

Avoid / least suitable: April to August

April and May can be very hot, with Gujarat Tourism listing summer temperatures reaching around 41°C. June–August bring monsoon conditions, which can make coastal sightseeing and longer road journeys less predictable.

• This itinerary includes several 4–5 hour road journeys, particularly Ahmedabad–Rajkot, Rajkot–Somnath and Somnath–Dwarka, so keep some flexibility around arrival times.
• Calico Museum operates through fixed guided-tour slots from Tuesday to Sunday and is closed on Mondays and public holidays. Its timing should be confirmed before planning the first day’s sightseeing.
• Akshardham Gandhinagar is closed every Monday. Mobile phones, cameras and other electronic items are not allowed inside and can be deposited at the cloakroom.
• At Somnath Temple, mobile phones, cameras, smartwatches and other electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited. Photography is not allowed, and footwear must be deposited before entry.
• Wear modest, comfortable clothing for temple visits and choose footwear that is easy to remove.
• Dwarkadhish Temple involves more than 50 steps to reach the main temple, which is worth considering for seniors or travellers with limited mobility.
• Allow enough time for the Dwarka temple circuit, as Dwarkadhish, Bet Dwarka, Nageshwar and Rukmini Temple are spread across different locations rather than one compact complex.
• Temple timings, darshan queues and access can change during festivals and religious occasions, so reconfirm local schedules before each day’s sightseeing.
• Coastal weather around Somnath, Porbandar and Dwarka can be windy or rainy during the monsoon; keep outdoor stops flexible.
• On the final day, leave enough buffer for the Dwarka–Jamnagar Airport transfer and airline check-in rather than planning sightseeing before departure.
